A Basic Company History of Moving America
Moving America was founded by Christopher Kemmett. Our company was first created in March of 2017. Our owner began the company in his local community of Lake City, FL. Moving America was legally established as a sole proprietorship and as a family business, with the primary focus of serving the local community. Still today our company believes in providing professional service with a personal value for every client. Since the beginning, we have invested in every job as an opportunity to build a long lasting relationship for the future.
In 2017, Moving America was granted an intrastate authority to transport household goods throughout the State of Florida. This license is granted by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Our license/registration number is IM2754. This registration allows us to operate commercially as an intrastate mover of household and office goods. This is the primary professional service we provide at Moving America.
In 2018, we established an interstate division for the purpose of transporting household goods and freight across the country. Today, this is a major service we provide directly through Moving America. Originally, our interstate services were offered through “Moving America Logistics LLC” and operated as a separate entity. This is no longer the case. In 2020, the companies merged into one. Moving America continues to operate today as an intrastate (state-wide), local, and interstate (nationwide) moving company. We are registered and authorized to transport household goods and general freight by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Moving America is a registered motor carrier with the FMCSA. U.S. DOT No. 3146919 Motor Carrier No. 102622.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, our company nearly went out of business. Our industry was directly impacted by lockdowns, causing our services to be temporarily shut down and even legally prohibited in many areas of the country. This created financial distress for the families of our owner and staff, ultimately caused directly by the public and government response to the event. Our company ultimately consolidated resources, lowered costs, and as of today still continues to operate successfully, despite the major challenges we faced.
